Why use a 50/10 study timer?
Twenty-five minutes can end just as you get into flow on a hard problem. Fifty minutes of focus followed by a proper 10-minute break gives you time to go deep while still resting before attention drops.
Tips for a 50 minute focus session
- Choose a task that needs sustained thinking — practice problems, writing, coding.
- Keep water nearby so you do not break the session to get up.
- Use the full 10-minute break: stand up, stretch, look away from screens.
- If 50 minutes feels too long, try the 25 minute timer and build up.
Frequently asked questions
Is 50/10 better than the 25/5 pomodoro?
Neither is better for everyone. 25/5 is easier to start; 50/10 suits deep work once you can focus longer. Try both for a week.
Does the timer work in a background tab?
Yes. It counts from the real end time and shows the remaining time in the tab title.
